9 GPIOs - GPIO 0 is used for programming, GPIO2 is wired to 3.3v and GPIO15 wired to Gnd to enable the module at startup. You should avoid using this pins but if you need it, you must cut the jumper trace at the back of the PCB and use pull up resistors.

Onboard Power Led
To program the ESP8266 board the chip needs to be in Flash mode. To do this, press the FLASH button, then press the RESET button while keeping the FLASH button pressed. Release the RESET button, then release the FLASH button.
You can use the Arduino IDE to program the ESP8266 board with the Arduino language. Download the latest version of the Arduino IDE (1.6.4 or more recent) and add this link into the Additional Board Manager URLs field in the Arduino preferences.
