This shield allows to use other shields, XBee, boards and modules designed for Arduino in Raspberry Pi. It also includes the possibility of connecting digital and analog sensors using the same pinout of Arduino but with the power and capabilities of Raspberry.
A dedicated library is available so you can write the same code used in Arduino. You have the control of all I/O interfaces in the same way as in Arduino: i2C, SPI, UART, analog, digital, in Raspberry Pi.
The arduPi library:
arduPi is a C++ library that lets you write programs for Raspberry Pi as if you were writing an arduino program.
All the functions in order to control Serial port communications, i2C, SPI and GPIO pins are available using the arduino syntax.
arduPi has been tested in a Raspbian distribution.
Only use shields that are running on 3.3V logic with the connection bridge shield for Raspberry Pi. All shields that compatible with Arduino Due should be compatible. Raspberry GPIO pins are rated 3.3V and are not 5V tolerant. Applying more than 3.3V will destroy the Raspberry.
Some examples (read the datasheet of your sensor before connecting): XBee 802.15.4/XBee ZigBee, RFID, NFC, Bluetooth, Wifi, GPRS, CanBus, Relay. Any sensor (analog 0-5V, digital 3.3V) to Raspberry Pi with a precession of 16b using the ADC integrated, I2C, SPI, UART.
